UK Libraries and the Strategic Plan

A draft version of the university’s next strategic plan is available on the Provost’s website for review and comment http://www.uky.edu/Provost/strategic_planning/. I am extremely pleased to see three mentions of the UK Libraries specifically in the plan and its metrics:

  • Goal 3 – Strategy 3.6.1 – Add library faculty and staff to support student success through activities such as training in information literacy, extension of library hours of services, and engagement with faculty in incorporating library resources in classroom experiences
  • Goal 3 – Strategy 3.7.3 – lists the library auxiliary storage facility as a top construction priority for the University
  • Strategic Plan Metrics – Goal 3 – improve ARL ranking to 32

When the economy improves, this 5 year plan will drive many of the University’s decisions about where to invest new funding. This plan is still a draft so please review and provide your comments on the form on the website.
