I'm a big fan of Facebook. I've used it for a while mostly to connect with other library friends. But, I have also used it to connect with children of my friends who are currently in college. I've found it useful for checking out the wedding pictures of one child who recently married. It was also interesting to me when the press release for my recent award was announced to see how various messages of congratulations arrived. most, of course, came via regular email. Some came via hand signed note. And a few came as posts on the wall of my Facebook account. Finally, how those responses came did not bear out any theory about generational modes of communication. I got all three processes from friends spanning all ages.
I really like the status updates in FaceBook and mostly go online to see those occasionally.
