New Faculty/Staff IDs

Last week, Pat Wilson sent a message to all-lib about new faculty/staff IDs. I had some additional questions and thought you might also, so Pat looked into the issue further. The university is proceeding to replace faculty/staff IDs with the new version. There is not a time frame yet in which you must replace your ID but at some point you will be required to do so. So, the information from Karen Doyle with the Wildcard UKID Center was to give us a head start on replacing our IDs. Pat then also provides the details about what those in WTYL will need to do so that their new IDs will operate on our card readers. I’ve copied Pat’s message again here.

Colleagues-for your information:

Karen Doyle with the Wildcard UKID Center wants us to know the following-see below. For those of you who work in WTYL when you get your new card, you will need to take your new card to Rick Garrett so he can update the information in the swipe card database. A new card will not open the Young library doors until its information has been entered.

I wanted you to know that we have started to replace the faculty/staff id. There are some changes to the front...the employee number and department numbers appear on the card. The main change that may affect you is that the card will be encoded with the employee number.

There is no charge for the replacement if the person brings in their old id. It is still $15 for the first card and $20 for a replacement. The change to the encoding only happens when the new card is made and staff can begin coming at their convenience to have their new card made. I just wanted to make sure it does not cause them any problems with access. We are open 9-5 Monday thru Friday.

Let me know if you have questions!

Karen
