Science Library Opening

Renovation of the Science Library is progressing. There was some delay in the demolition and replacement of the elevator which will delay the moves of the Chemistry/Physics Library and the Math Library into the Science Library. The construction is still on schedule and will be finish by November 9th. Because of the delayed start of the elevator replacement, the new elevator would not be in service when the library opened on the original planned date and the Central Kentucky Radio Eye space would not yet have been renovated. Postponing the move until the elevator is completed would be prudent. There were many things that the planning group was prepared to work around to provide our services, but the noise and construction dust would not provide the environment that the library will have once it is finished. We do not have a new move date at this time, but expect that it will occur before the start of the spring semester. The precise date will be driven by when CKRE’s new facility is available and they can move out and their space can be renovated. The rest of the building should be completed by the end of the summer.
